KNOW BEFORE YOU GET STARTED
Independent Contractor
Opportunities available through GPS and the Arise Platform are independent contractor opportunities and are not traditional employment positions. Contractors are responsible for managing their own schedules, maintaining required equipment and workspace standards, meeting applicable client and platform requirements, and handling their own tax obligations.
Independent contractors are not guaranteed a specific number of hours, a particular client program, or a specific level of earnings.
Client Opportunities
Available client programs may vary based on demand, location, experience, technical requirements, background requirements, and other eligibility criteria. Contractors may review available opportunities and select programs that align with their interests, availability, and qualifications, subject to space and program availability. Each client program may have different service requirements, pay structures, operating hours, certification schedules, and performance expectations.
Certification & Onboarding
Most client programs require successful completion of a certification course before a contractor may begin servicing.
Certification schedules, course length, attendance requirements, assessments, and any applicable costs vary by client program. Contractors should carefully review the opportunity announcement before enrolling in certification. Successful completion of certification does not guarantee a specific number of service hours, continued access to a client program, or future opportunities.
Platform & Service Fees
Contractors should understand the fees associated with servicing through the Arise Platform and GPS before beginning a client program. Arise Platform Fee: Arise currently withholds a 5% platform fee from service revenue to cover platform usage and access.
GPS charges a $65.00 service fee per invoice period revenue is earned. This fee supports administrative services, invoicing and payment processing, contractor account support, and other services provided by GPS.
Applicable fees are deducted from contractor earnings for each invoice period in which the fees are due.
Arise Platform fees, client-related costs, and GPS fees or policies may be subject to change. Contractors will be provided applicable fee information and should review their agreements and program terms before beginning service
Tax Considerations & Recordkeeping
As a self-employed independent contractor, you are responsible for understanding and managing your own tax obligations. We encourage all contractors to speak with a qualified tax professional regarding potential tax deductions, credits, or other tax benefits that may apply to expenses associated with servicing as an independent contractor. Depending on your individual circumstances and applicable tax laws, certain business-related expenses—such as IBO fees, platform fees, equipment, internet service, office supplies, software, and other qualifying costs—may receive different tax treatment. A qualified tax professional can help you determine what may apply to your specific situation.
Arise issues a service statement to both the contractor and GPS. Contractors should review each service statement carefully and retain copies as part of their business records. We strongly encourage every contractor to develop a consistent and organized recordkeeping system from the beginning. Keep accurate and reliable records of your service statements and earnings, contractor payment records, GPS IBO fees, Arise Platform fees, equipment and computer purchases, internet and technology expenses, office supplies and other business expenses, receipts and invoices, and tax documents.
Developing a regular pattern of organizing your records throughout the year can make it easier to track income and expenses, verify payments, identify discrepancies, maintain supporting documentation, and prepare accurate information for your tax professional at tax time.
GPS does not provide tax or legal advice. Tax rules and the treatment of business expenses vary based on individual circumstances and applicable federal, state, and local laws. Contractors should consult a qualified tax professional for advice regarding their individual tax situation.
Scheduling & Service Intervals
One of the benefits of independent contracting through the Arise Platform is the ability to select from available service intervals rather than working a traditional employer-assigned schedule. However, service intervals are based on client demand and availability. Certain days, times, minimum service requirements, or peak-period commitments may apply depending on the client program. Selecting a service interval represents a commitment to service that scheduled time. Contractors should only select intervals they reasonably expect to complete.
Commitment Adherence & Scheduling Access
Reliability is an important part of successfully servicing client programs through the Arise Platform. Contractors should work toward maintaining at least 90% Commitment Adherence, meaning they consistently service the intervals they have selected and minimize missed, late, or prematurely ended service periods.
Meeting applicable adherence guidelines can demonstrate reliability and service efficiency. Depending on current Arise and client-program policies, contractors who maintain qualifying adherence levels may receive earlier access to available scheduling intervals, which can provide additional opportunity to select preferred service times before broader scheduling access opens. Early scheduling access is not guaranteed and may depend on the specific client program, performance metrics, platform policies, and availability of service intervals.
Contractors are encouraged to select schedules carefully, monitor their adherence, and avoid committing to intervals they are unlikely to service.
Performance Expectations
Each client program establishes its own quality and performance standards. These may include measurements related to attendance, adherence, customer experience, call handling, quality assurance, technical compliance, and other service metrics. Maintaining satisfactory performance is important for continued eligibility to service a client program. Contractors should regularly review communications and performance information made available through the Arise Platform.
Earnings
Service rates vary by client program and may be structured differently depending on the opportunity.
Contractor earnings depend on factors such as the client program selected, service intervals completed, applicable service rates, performance requirements, and authorized fees or deductions.
GPS does not guarantee earnings, income levels, or a minimum number of service hours.
Equipment & Work Environment
Independent contractors are generally responsible for providing and maintaining the equipment necessary to service from home.
Requirements may include a compatible computer, reliable high-speed internet connection, approved headset, required security or technical equipment, and a quiet professional workspace. Technical specifications vary by client program, so contractors should verify that their equipment meets the applicable requirements before enrolling in certification.
Invoicing & Payments
Contractor payments are based on approved service activity reported through the Arise Platform and are processed according to the applicable invoice schedule. Authorized Arise Platform fees, GPS fees, and any other applicable adjustments will be reflected in the contractor's payment or invoice documentation. Contractors are encouraged to review their service records and payment documentation each invoice period and promptly report any questions or discrepancies.
Your Responsibility as a Contractor
Independent contracting offers flexibility, but it also requires personal responsibility.
Contractors are expected to manage their availability, attend required certification sessions, maintain reliable technology, select service intervals responsibly, meet client performance standards, monitor communications, and fulfill the commitments they make through the platform.
The flexibility of remote contracting works best when contractors balance control over their schedules with consistent and dependable service.
Our Commitment to Transparency
GPS is committed to providing clear information so prospective contractors can make informed decisions before enrolling in a client program. We encourage every contractor to review available opportunities carefully, understand all applicable fees and requirements, evaluate certification and scheduling expectations, and ask questions before committing to an opportunity. Our goal is to provide a straightforward path to flexible remote contracting while helping contractors understand what is expected from the beginning.
